On January 17th, we have the third quarter waning Moon in Libra. The moon cycle is very sacred to our energies as it rules the: emotions, soul and inner intuition. This is the phase of the moon where in the waning cycle of release it squares ( tense 90 degree aspect) to the sun. This creates a tension and pull of intensity between our feminine side( the Moon) and our masculine side( the Sun). Libra, the 7th zodiac sign, deals with: relationships, balance and harmony. Capricorn, the 10th zodiac sign, deals with: authority, structure and karma.
The third quarter moon in Libra will also square the recent Lunar Eclipse in Cancer that happened on January 10th. This tension is called ” a crisis of action” between the Cardinal signs(Libra and Cancer). Cardinal signs are the first signs at the beginning of each season: Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. They represent: action, initiation, and progress. These guys and gals make shit happen! They demand results and movement! At this time you could feel very overwhelmed and pulled in many different directions all at one time.
There could be a desire to create dynamic change and progress among: Libra( our relationships), Capricorn ( our structures) and Cancer( our home) but we may be in a crisis of how to make them all work. There must be a release of the pressure and a final surrender of what will be and what is to come. Waning moons are about release and purging. It is time to let go and let god. This is a big lesson for all Cardinal signs. They all have this common fighting spirit that must eventually surrender before rising to victory and success.

Cancer, the 4th zodiac sign, represents: the home, the mother, comfort, security and nourishment. We have now entered into another eclipse cycle. Lunar Eclipses, are full moons with 10x the intensity and power of regular full moons. They herald: massive completions, endings and manifestations. The Lunar Eclipse in Cancer is here to awaken a desire to bring nourishment and comfort to our lives. There is a softening that wants to be established, and this could feel rather emotional and full of intensity. Our soul is wanting connection to source and the themes of: security, mothering and safety are huge with this Lunar eclipse. Major dynamics around the home and family are highlighted with La Luna in the sign of the crab. Due to the fact that this is an Eclipse, which signals: changes and shifts, we could feel that some aspect of our soul and emotional states must alter and transform. Endings and final chapters are being acknowledged with this moon. We might want to hide from the depth of our emotions but the lesson of this Lunar Eclipse is to face our feelings and step forward with integrity and honor. Both Saturn and Pluto are opposing this moon at 22 degrees of Capricorn. Saturn, is the planet of: karma, restriction, obligation and the patriarch. Pluto, is the planet of: transformation, power, death/rebirth. Capricorn, the 10th zodiac sign, deals with: order, structure, destiny, responsibility and mastery. The Lunar Eclipse opposing Saturn will create a push and pull between our emotions and obligations. Its as though we want to go to the depths, but our inner masculine wants to resist the pull to be too emotionally driven. The Lunar Eclipse opposing Pluto, will set up a power struggle between our security vs. our evolution to change. The dynamic between both will set us up for some extremely emotional and karmic situations to play out, perhaps with much struggle and intensity. The healing of the feminine and masculine sides of our identity is huge with this moon cycle. We will need to deal with the distortion of both if we are to bring such healing to both sides. Surrender is a huge theme and something must be faced once and for all. We can’t hide from the disconnect; we must walk towards both sides with: humility, honesty and courage.
The Lunar Eclipse in Cancer is here to honor the depth of our feelings and the beauty of our deepest emotions. No other sign can be in the depths of their feelings as a Moon in Cancer ( I know as I am one). Hey Astromomma fam! I was called by spirit to write an article on the astrological perspective of the current crisis of wild fires across Australia. The news of such devastation and agony of these fires has been so prolific and heart breaking. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about what was going on with Australia’s birth chart and could astrology lend a clue to why or how these fires showed up?
I have a special affinity with Australia, even though I was born in the US. I was given the opportunity to live in Melbourne from 2011-2012, and the land of OZ, has always been a second home to me. It was this tie, that prompted me to look at the astrology of Australia, my home away from home, and see if I could lend some astrological insight on what is currently happening and what the future holds.
Australia, itself has many birth charts, as do many countries. Without getting into an argument, I decided to look at the most recognized date of Australia’s natal chart, which is the date of Australia Day and according to Astrotheme, is set for January 26, 1788, at 6pm in Sydney, Australia. This gives Australia: a Sun at 6 degrees of Aquarius, Moon at 20 degrees of Virgo and ascendant at 17 degrees of Cancer. There are many factors to look at when analyzing a natal chart against the current astrological transits, but a couple things stood out right away. Again, I won’t analyze the whole birth chart( or this article would be too long) but let’s look into a couple of interesting points I noticed right away.
The first is the Ascendant at 17 degrees of Cancer. Cancer, the 4th zodiac sign, deals with: home, the mother, safety, security and nourishment. Australia’s physical attribute lend’s a very motherly and supportive vibe. This Cancer ascendant happens to be opposing the current stellium of Capricorn energy, with Saturn, Pluto and the South Node, all within the sign of the goat. Oppositions( or 180 degree aspects) bring tension and often action or destruction. While oppositions aren’t inherently negative( no aspect is) there is a clue here. The tug of war on how the country’s identity, Ascendant, is being expressed is bumping up with limitation and restructuring of Saturn and the destruction and power of Pluto.The South Node, a karmic and destined point on the moon’s axis, represents: the past, what needs to be released and karma. The South Node in Capricorn opposing Australia’s Cancer ascendant would give such karma and release to the identity of the country, along with immense burden and limitation.
The second factor I see is Australia’s, Uranus, the planet of: shocks, sudden events and surprises, also sits in the country’s first house at 27 degrees of Cancer. Again, we can see the opposition of Uranus to both transit Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, respectively. Uranus opposing Saturn is all about break down of the status quo and immense amounts of tension. Uranus opposing Pluto creates a massive eruption of power and often it comes with little to no warning and can be quite destructive and full on. I often see major occurrences happen when outer planets( in this case Saturn and Pluto) come to make difficult aspects with planets in one’s first house of: the self, identity, and outlook.
So, from an astrological perspective, do I see relief in sight? As both Saturn and Pluto continue to move forward, there will be more separation from the opposition to Australia’s Cancer ascendant. The heavy Cancer/Capricorn energies, are particularly strong right now as we just had the Solar Eclipse in Capricorn and are preparing for the upcoming Lunar Eclipse in Cancer. The upcoming Lunar Eclipse at 20 degrees of Cancer on January 10th, happens to conjunct Australia’s ascendant. Lunar Eclipses are full moon’s with 10x the amount of power and prowess as regular full moons. They signal major and final: endings, completions and manifestations. Is this when relief could manifest? It certainly looks hopeful and promising. As mentioned, there are so many factors to look at and this is just one aspect(although a big one).

On December 19th, the Sun, which rules our: ego, vitality and life force, at the 27th degree of Sagittarius comes to greet the Galactic Center. The Galactic Center lies in the middle of our Milky Way, between 27-29 degrees of Sagittarius. This point signals: massive awakening, insight and spiritual downloads. It is a portal of divine wisdom and spiritual awakening. Sagittarius, the 9th zodiac sign is known to be: wise, daring, philosophical, adventurous and inspirational.
As the Sun comes to meet up at the Galactic Center, something magical or ethereal is possible to occur. It’s as though we are getting a nudge from divine and this could come inside of a surreal or mystical experience. Sagittarius rules foreign lands and law as well, so big issues concerning both could dominate the headlines at this time. Something big or unusual normally happens every year when the Sun greets the Galactic Center Point. It is usually connected to a higher form of consciousness and events or circumstances can come out of the blue.
Have you noticed any mystical or special messages the last couple days? This aspect happens to be conjunct my Neptune at 29 degrees of Sagittarius. I had a download of a lifetime from spirit last night that shook me to my core! It was such a powerful experience that I wanted to write about it and see if others were experiencing similar weird phenomenons.
The Sun conjunct the Galactic Center is here to awaken our understanding of spirit’s presence in our 3D world. This aspect brings: awakening of divine guidance, sacred wisdom and the awareness of our soul’s truth. We will be under this aspect for the next 2 days until the Sun moves into Capricorn on 12/21( Winter/Summer Solstice).

On December 12th, at 12:12 am EST, the moon, which rules: our emotions, soul and inner core, becomes full at 20 degrees of Gemini. Full moons are always an extremely emotional time, and represent: endings, manifestation and completions. Gemini, the 3rd zodiac sign, is all about: communication, malleability, curiosity, and intelligence. This is the last full moon of the decade and the last one before the Solar Eclipse in Capricorn on December 26th. Prepare for massive shifts and change!
The Full Moon in Gemini will bring forth communication and confessions to the surface. If there has been a long held truth that needs to be spoken, then La Luna in the sign of the twins, will bring forth transparency and clarity. Known to be highly intelligent, the sign of Gemini, loves to learn and explore. The issue with the sign of the twins, is sometimes they will say one thing and mean another. This is due to the fact that the sign holds dual energies. Although communication will be center and focus at this Full moon, we might need to look deeper to see multiple perspectives to a situation. What might seem obvious, could actually have another side that we are not aware of or willing to see. Saturn, is the planet of: obligation and karma and Pluto, is the planet of: power and regeneration. Capricorn energy deals with: control, authority and responsibility. Venus conjunct both Saturn/Pluto, will bring up lots of hidden and heavy energies connected to our love lives and material resources. There are major shifts occurring at this time and some won’t be pretty or easy to comprehend. It is time to get real and some romantic situations might get a huge wake up call. This heavy energy of Venus conjunct Saturn and Pluto will add a weight of consequence to this Full Moon in Gemini. What could begin as a light conversation, will soon evolve to a serious discussion and as mentioned, could be rather confronting. No more hiding or running from what we truly want and desire. There is a final chapter being acknowledged at this time. Prepare for karma to strike. The energy is ripe for authenticity and truth barring confessions.
