We’re experiencing historic heat in the Southwest this summer—not so much the temperatures here near Phoenix but the number of days of these temperatures. Normally our July-August monsoons bring the temperature down at least 20 degrees but since we’ve not had them this year, it’s just super hot every day. With rolling blackouts in California now, I bet it’s hot there, too, without air conditioners. They’ll have to hit the beach. Mr. MBB brings us the updates, below.
I can confirm the power outages in Iowa as a friend emailed me about that. She said there are gasoline shortages and long lineups, as well; it took a couple of days to get their power back and cellular was spotty, too. She said the storm was unbelievable and as she drove home from work in the midst of it, she didn’t know if she was going to wind up in the ditch but made it safely. They had no downed trees there but the garden was flattened. The plants are resilient she said, and they were able to prop them up. Not all the cornfields were damaged, thankfully, and they’ve been harvesting it for awhile already.
