Looking for some emotional healing? Have you ever considered writing as a healing tool? Here are some tips on how to use it!
Write a letter!
Writing letters might seem scary because you fear you will have to send it. Relax, you won’t. This letter
is for your eyes only. You can write to a member of your family on how you feel. Write all of the things
that you want to say but just can’t.
You can write to a friend as well. Write to your therapist, to your imaginary friend, to God, to a passer-
by, to the one who hurt you, to a crush or anyone else in the world.
It doesn’t matter as long as you have something to say to that person – or thing.
You can even write to yourself.Be honest and free, no one will ever get to see it. You can even burn it afterwards.
Write a poem!
Poetry is a well-known tool in healing. Experts recommend reading it because those emotions might
appeal to you and match what you are feeling.
However, writing poetry can be even more effective because you get to pour all of your feelings on the
paper in that single poem. Start your own poetry book and write a poem a day. Or more, if you can.
The important thing to remember is that it doesn’t have to be perfect. It doesn’t have to rhyme or even
make sense to anyone but you. But it will turn out to be a powerful healing tool and you’ll feel much
better after writing them.
You can even track your journey that way, through various poems you write.
Create lists!
There are all sorts of lists that you could create. How can this help? Well, you might just have to try it to
see the benefits. And it will all depend on what kind of list you are writing.
You can start with the basics.
For instance, your most beloved movies, books, TV shows or songs. Then move on to your favorite
words, experiences, feelings and so on.
You can also write about things that make you happy. Write about what makes you sad. Write a bucket
list of things you want to do, a bucket list of things you want to see and a bucket list of things you like to
do right now.
Track over time how those lists change and evolve. Do things from the happy list, the bucket lists and
the favorites. Avoid sad or angry lists. But keep tracking them, for release, burn those lists.
Keep a journal!
A journal can help you track your moods and feelings over time. It can help you vent and learn more
about yourself. The act of writing will help you heal and grow. It will allow you to see yourself from
different perspectives and heal faster.
Carry the journal with you everywhere. If you feel sad or just despondent, write about that. A sentence
is often enough to change the mood and the entire day.
After you vent to your journal, you’ll feel refreshed. Burning lower vibrational lists, allow release of lower energies.
Do free writing!
Free writing means writing whatever comes to your Heart first. No structure, no fear, no judgement. Just
you and the blank paper. Whatever you are feeling, write it down. It can be your grocery list and then a
recipe, a story you heard, how you feel about the rain, what your goals are, a to-do list and so
on.
“It doesn’t really matter. Whatever is on your mind (Heart) right now, write it down. It’s not meant to be a work
of art, just a conversation with yourself,” says Ruth Black, health writer at UKWritings and Academized .
Write a story!
“Create imaginary characters and worlds and use them to tell a story. Any story. It can be of your own
issues or something you saw or heard – it can be anything you want it to be. As long as you are having
fun, it doesn’t matter,” says Ruby Franklin, spiritual blogger at Boomessays and Essayroo .
Writing has a power to heal. Use it to help yourself become a better and happier person.
