The volcanic activity has been heightened, the auroras spectacular, and yesterday the tug of the new fissure that caused the evacuation of Grindavik had my other half frothing at the mouth to go and photograph it as he has before.
In a matter of an hour, with my approval of course, the flights were booked, bags packed, ground transportation and accommodation arranged, the pilot on standby to take he and his buddy aloft and then—his flight on Iceland Air was suddenly moved ahead 4 hours and he couldn’t make his connection. A check of the lava activity on the live feed cam showed it had significantly decreased and he cancelled it all.
His flight attendant friend explained that the air traffic controllers planned to strike so they advanced the flight to bring the passengers in before the strike began, and then the the strike was averted and they put the flight back on its original schedule. Too late, though. The Christmas chaos did the trick and hubby’s staying home for now but has some credits to apply to another trip should that materialize.
My other half doesn’t use a drone, and has some excellent captures of the volcano in Iceland already, but this fellow sacrificed had drone to get this up close and personal perspective. Wow.

One theory is that the Earth is expanding, just as we are, as we increase our frequency and our density lessens with more space between our atoms, etc. and that is why there are so many shifts in the Earth’s crust, fissures opening up, sinkholes, etc.

I had a long list of tasks for today but in truth I’m a little tired and don’t feel like doing anything. I’m kind of glad I didn’t have to go to the airport and back. Only six days until Christmas Eve and some official, guilt-free vacation and the winter solstice is Thursday/Friday.
