The cost for refilling the gas tank has steadily been on the rise for two weeks but jumped significantly overnight to $6.89 a gallon.
The national average for gas is $3.871 a gallon, according to AAA.
Californians face a significantly higher pain at the pump with prices at $5.578 a gallon.
Santa Clarita stations are seeing prices $1.32 higher than the state average at more than six stations.
The average cost in Los Angeles County is $5.732.
