A Pentagon report revealed Russia and China are poised to initiate damaging cyberattacks on U.S. critical infrastructure with the intent to “sow chaos and hinder military mobilization” in the event of war.

The report, released Tuesday, emphasizes challenges the U.S. faces from malicious cyber actors aiming to exploit technological vulnerabilities and diminish the military’s competitive advantage.

“The United States is challenged by malicious cyber actors who seek to exploit our technological vulnerabilities and undermine our military’s competitive edge,” the Pentagon report decalred.

“They target our critical infrastructure and endanger the American people,” it added. “Defending against and defeating these cyber threats is a Department of Defense imperative.”

The Pentagon’s assessment indicates China presents a more sustained and significant threat.

Russia is a more immediate threat, the Pentagon claimed, citing cyberattacks witnessed in Eastern Europe during the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Russian military and intelligence units have employed a variety of cyberattacks to disrupt Ukrainian military logistics, sabotage civilian infrastructure and weaken political resolve.

A Politico report earlier this year claimed Russia initiated 300 attacks on Ukraine’s security and defense sector.

Russian Federation forces also conducted 400 cyberattacks on commercial, financial and telecommunications sectors, according to the report, which noted 500 attacks targeting government entities.

The Pentagon’s report notes that even though the outcomes of these Russian cyber efforts were limited, they could expose the U.S. and its allies to similar cyber threats, especially during a critical situation.

Defense News claims both China and Russia possess significant cyber threats to national security, but a 2021 International Institute for Strategic Studies report ranked them below the U.S. in cyber capabilities.

Mieke Eoyang, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Cyber Policy, told reporters his department considers China the “pacing challenge in the cyber domain” and acknowledged the substantial cyber threat Russia poses.

“I think prior to this conflict, there was a sense that cyber would have a much more decisive impact in warfare than what we experienced,” Eoyang said.

“What this conflict has shown us is the importance of integrated cyber capabilities in and alongside other warfighting capabilities,” she continued. “And that is consistent with the approach in the [National Defense Strategy] on integrated deterrence and is an important lesson for us to think about — that cyber is a capability that is best used in concert with those others and may be of limited utility when used all by itself.”

The report elaborates on the Chinese Communist Party’s perspective.

“The Chinese Communist Party sees superiority in cyberspace as core to its theories of victory,” the report claims, adding CCP espionage jeopardized key defense networks and broader U.S. critical infrastructure.

  1. LOL….the next phase of their agenda. They’ve been saying this for years. So a false flag event, EMP blamed on China, and or a fake alien invasion….and then their zombie apocolypse, not necessarily in that order…but they’ve been talking about this technological hacking and taking down the internet for some time.
What would people do without the internet? Or where is the internet? LOL,
The internet has been messing up a bit off and on for a couple months, but this is no surprise, they’d love to pull off something this big so we can’t communicate anymore. I had heard they were gonna build an alternate internet, wondering if they already have one. I guess we shall see!

    1. Well…my Linux computer is doing GREAT running faster, etc. without my doing anything. So, I say…Starlink, or whatever, is your and running right now! Platform interference is necessary for those belief systems…😊🌹

      1. Some aren’t old enough to remember what we did before the internet, gotcha. Takes longer but write letters or place phone calls. Not cell phones if the internet is down odds are cell phones are too.

      2. Yeah, I remember not having internet or computers or cell phones. We actually answered the phone not knowing who was calling….LOL
We went out side and played games, or in the dirt, or built igloos, or went sleigh riding, or swimming, or camping….which I wasn’t so fond of, but also would break out with poison ivy every time….LOL
I use to have this radio an antique one, that got radio stations all over the world. I actually owned and played vinyl albums.
I grew up in a small ass town and in the Bible belt, and of course my Mom’s ‘reliable Christian resources’ who told her a snippet of the truth but the rest just a bunch of gossip…gossip, gossip.
I told them that if I was doing all the things they said I was, I need to wake up cuz I’m having way too much fun….LOL

      3. My computer is old, I bought it off a guy who refurbishes HP’s, this one being an elite desk and he upgraded it with an SSD and an I5-8500k and I’m building me a new/old one with used parts, can’t really afford the newer ones or to get one already built. so far I’ve got the CPU, GPU, motherboard, SSD, and only now have to get the CPU fan, ATX case, power supply, bigger monitor, keyboards/mouse, speakers, wifi, and then I’ll give this one to my granddaughter. Right now she works on one that has only dual core, and pretty much is only good for internet browsing, videos and playing DVD’s…
So mostly it’s the internet, not this computer, sometimes it will just quit for a bit, or it will go so slow. I know it’s not this computer.
So…Starlink, isn’t that Elon’s network satelite thing? Wondering how one hooks up with that, I know the guy whose videos we been watching who is a real estate agent uses that someone provided them with cuz no one had internet there.

      4. Or….our own ‘innernet’. but not with technology. Till then, or we end up on another plane of existance where everything is free, or you’ll own nothing and be happy…nothing is free in 3d, someone pays.

      1. It would be back to letter writing, long distance phone calls, and land line. It would be us relying on the stupid MSM and word of mouth to find out what is really going on in the world. It definitely would be a challenge to communicate with others, if you don’t live in a city, or talk to your neighbors, or you don’t have a landline, or pencil and paper…or buy the newspaper….I prefer the internet, it’s kinda hard to devolve back to those days. Everyone just gossiped and believed everything they saw on MSM.
