CFN Afternoon Update 5 September 2023 – Dr. Schavi M. Ali

A new coronal mass ejection (CME) from the Sun just hit Earth’s magnetic field at approximately “15:29 UT” (Universal Time)—occurring at about “11:29 AM” (EDT)— causing a “G1” geomagnetic storm.

With the magnetosphere being so pressured with fluxing proton particles, however, which affect our Sun, there is a possibility of higher level geomagnetic storms this week.

This will likely result in strong hurricanes and other types of storms as well as intense heat. Another aspect that is causing cosmic intensity is the fact that we are just about two- and-a half weeks away from the Autumnal Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and the Vernal Equinox in the Southern Hemisphere.

At these times (as well as during the approach of the Winter and Summer Solstices), cosmic weather is powerful.
