Orange Substance “Oozing” Out of Ground Near Prescott, AZ ~ April 13, 2023

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is trying to identify an orange liquid oozing-up out of soil surrounding the former Sheldon Mine in Walker, Arizona, roughly 11 miles from Prescott. Officials are asking people to stay away from it.

A resident first reported the liquid on Thursday near Sheldon Road and Midnight Snap Lane.

ADEQ officials say due to recent heavy rainfall, the substance may be surfacing into nearby areas, but no one knows what it is!

The Walker Fire Department, Yavapai County, and the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs are all working to see what the liquid is, if it needs to be cleaned up or is hazardous. However, they say, if anyone has come into contact with it and is experiencing health issues, call your doctor as a precaution.

According to the USGS Mineral Resource Data System, the Sheldon Mine was primarily used for copper mining but also had gold, lead, silver, and zinc.

Local TV news is covering the strange ooze:

##Orange Soil/ Liquid — KathrynM2023-04-11 20:58

This was a copper mine back in the day according to articles. In Shasta County the EPA designated an old copper mine as a Super Fund clean up site in early 2000’s, designation was made way earlier. The water was very hazardous to the employees of the clean up construction company. Since the EPA is not to protect the American people from greedy corporations with bad mining practices or train dynasty companies but instead, act like the middleman between the company wanting to mine or drill or carry hazardous materials thru towns like East Palestine, OH, and the federal gov. Really, it’s just an outrage.

Once I began to understand by what authority these government entities act with such seemingly irrational anti human decisions, like the poisoning in E. Palestine and absolutely no attempt to intervene to make the private train company accountable for the derailment crisis they caused. The fed gov didn’t do anything until Trump said he was going to the site, suddenly, fema hops to? The brazen corruption is breathtaking.

Lab analysis should show what it is. LC / MS (Liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry) would probably be useful.

Bacterial iron, found plentiful in basaltic rock formations can cause a slimy coagulation or bloom of clotted iron oxide (rusty water).
With heavy rains this compound finds it way to the surface along with excess surface water.
