After hearing about OpenAI’s ChatGPT, a new advance in Artificial Intelligence, I decided to ask it some questions about a subject I’ve thought a lot about — sex.
I’ve proposed a Theory of Sexual Relativity which argues that sex is more fundamental and consequential than we realize and that the “story” we tell ourselves about sex shapes the society in which we live.
Since AI is having such a profound effect on our lives, I recently published an article—“If Screen Life Is the Question, Our Sex Life May Be the Answer! Can SEX 2.0 Save Us From the Robots?”—which asks if our uniquely human capacity for sexual ecstasy might be the antidote to the increasing dehumanization of the AI Revolution.
Technology has allowed us to outsource many aspects of our lives. In our AI-enabled world, robots drive our cars, fly our planes, and grow our food. Computers do our thinking, Google our remembering, chatbots our creating, apps our socializing and dating, and drones our fighting. How much more of our humanity will we outsource to AI? And, more importantly, what will be left?
Living in an increasingly virtual world demands that we develop an inner ecstatic technology that balances the outer digital one. As we slide down the technological rabbit hole into a frictionless, virtual world of software and screens, we have a greater need than ever to trust in the evolutionary wisdom of our uniquely human sexuality. Living more and more of our lives inside technology’s “glass cage,” the physical celebration of love and being alive may be the only thing that keeps us truly human.
Since AI will affect every aspect of our lives, I was curious what ChatGPT would say about the impact of AI on sex.
So I asked a series of questions. They are by no means comprehensive but may spark a discussion about these two very significant areas of our lives—sex and AI.
- How will AI affect human sexuality and sexual relations?

- How will AI’s effect on human sexuality and sexual relations impact society and ultimately civilization?
