Former child star and Hollywood actress Amanda Bynes has reportedly been hospitalized after she was found wandering about naked in Los Angeles. The former “Amanda Show” star flagged down a passing motorist, whom she told she “was coming down from a psychotic episode.” She then called 911 herself, an eyewitness allegedly told TMZ.
Bynes has a long history of stints in rehab for substance abuse and reportedly first was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at least 10 years ago.
The retired actress, nearing her 37th birthday, was set to appear at ’90s Con in Connecticut with her former “All That” co-stars Saturday but canceled due to an unspecified illness. Ex-fiancé Paul Michael, whom she met in rehab, told Page Six exclusively that the Nickelodeon alum has allegedly been “off her meds.”
Following the recent incident, Bynes was placed on a “5150 psychiatric hold.” Such a hold typically lasts up to only 72 hours, but Bynes is expected to remain in treatment for several days.
Although Bynes remains unhurt, TMZ reported that this was fortunate given the neighborhood in which she was found, which is among those impacted by a surge in violent crime that caused Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon to launch an employee shuttle service just last week so that his staff can traverse downtown Los Angeles safely.
In recent years Bynes attended cosmetology school and graduated in 2019 from California’s Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.
