HOUSTON — A judge in the Southern District of Texas convicted Edgar Botello, 30, of conspiracy to sex trafficking; sex trafficking with force, fraud or coercion; and possession of child pornography.

▫️FBI arrests Texas pastor on child pornography charges

A Texas church pastor was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigations on criminal charges related to child pornography. David Lloyd Walther, 56, allegedly knowingly searched for, downloaded, distributed and possessed child pornography, according to a criminal complaint filed in Austin federal court. Walther was the pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Round Rock, Texas, at the time of his alleged crimes. The complaint accuses Walther of downloading child pornography and making it available online using a file-sharing network called BitTorrent.

▫️National Human Trafficking Hotline under pressure from attorneys general – AG Yost and his Colleagues Call on Congress to Force National Human Trafficking Hotline to Meet its Promises

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and 35 other attorneys general sent a letter this week to congressional leaders informing them of their grave concerns about the National Human Trafficking Hotline and asking them to help improve the critical joint federal-state effort to end trafficking. It was recently discovered, however, that Polaris forwards tips about adult victims only in limited circumstances – which contradicts what Polaris advertises. In some cases, states have discovered a delay of several months before the tips were even shared.
