All flights across US grounded after computer outage with widespread cancellations ~ January 12, 2023

All flights across the US have been lifted after a huge computer outage left passengers grounded for hours.

Passengers had been left waiting on the tarmac after The Federal Aviation Administration suffered a nationwide system error which left flights grounded indefinitely.

The Federal Aviation Administration has now lifted the ban for all flights departing in the US.

The agency said in a tweet that it was working on restoring its Notice to Air Missions System with all aircraft required to route through the system, including commercial and military flights.

The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement: “The FAA is working to restore its Notice to Air Missions System.

“We are performing final validation checks and reloading the system now.

“Operations across the National Airspace System are affected. We will provide frequent updates as we make progress.”

United Airlines said that it had temporarily delayed all domestic flights and would issue an update once it learned more from the FAA.

There is set to be long delays for travellers with the Air Traffic Control System Command Center warning there is no solution in sight.

In addition, there were delays also at Ronald Reagan Washington airport in Arlington, Virginia.

Bettina Inclรกn, who has been left waiting at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, wrote on Twitter: “Update from our United pilot – The down system doesn’t let him check flight plans and follow federal regulations.

“According to people here at DCA airport, it’s a regulatory gray area if they can fly. Putting safety first, they are grounding flights until FAA fixes the system.”
