It’s clever.

Twitter was never able to turn a profit before, but was entirely politicized. Now it will be able to pay its own bills under private ownership, while attempting to be an an actual open public space. A nominal fee anyone can pay for a premium badge is much better than a selective program of opinion weighting. Not perfect, but better.

The Left is just mad they are losing their controlled propaganda box.

By the way, apparently moderation is now largely on pause and a team of about 15 people hold the current admin keys until further notice. About 25% of the staff is due to be laid off.
