A torch like the one in the image above or the Statue of Liberty is a symbol for the Moon Goddess Isis (Egypt) / Semiramis (Babylon).

The Statue of Liberty is a monument not to freedom but rather unrestrained Liberty as Semiramis is also called the Whore of Babylon. She is considered a whore because the legend reports she murdered her husband (Nimrod) and married her son (Tammuz) to remain Queen (Power, Control, Authority). The torch is from the Isis legend where she is searching for her dead husbands remains. This is where we get the concept of holding a torch for a lost loved one. Who else would French Freemasons worship?
