Ottawa police “secure” downtown with action against protesters “imminent”
The police have set up a secure area with approximately 100 checkpoints around downtown Ottawa, with only residents and workers allowed in the designated area.(CTV)
Interim Police Chief, Steve Bell said Thursday action against protesters is “imminent,” adding, “If you want to leave under your own terms, now is the time to do it.”
Large numbers of officers from several agencies have been moving into the city’s downtown area in an attempt to end the demonstrations.

Amazon drops Black Lives Matter from charity service
BLM has been removed from AmazonSmile due to growing concerns over the foundation’s lack of financial transparency.
“Charitable organizations must meet the requirements outlined in our participation agreement to be eligible for AmazonSmile,” an Amazon spox told The Washington Examiner.
Black Lives Matter has failed to disclose detailed financial reports of where exactly $60 million of donations it received went.

Russia tells NATO to “calm down” over Ukraine
Western panic over Russian aggression against Ukraine is entirely fictional, and the US-led NATO bloc needs to tone down its “hysteria,” Russia’s deputy FM said Thursday.
“The exercises are over; you can calm down. The units are returning to their places of permanent deployment, as planned,” Alexander Grushko told Kommersant.
Grushko described the alleged “build-up of Russian forces in Belarus” as “mythical,” adding that “NATO’s ‘eastern flank’ is nothing to worry about.”

Canadian banks start freezing accounts linked to Freedom Convoy protesters
Deputy and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland acknowledged Thursday financial institutions have moved quickly to freeze accounts of people linked to freedom demonstrations in Ottawa. (CBC)
She vowed to take more accounts offline to starve protesters of funds needed to continue the demonstrations against vaccine mandates.
Freehand said law enforcement agencies have been gathering intel on convoy protesters and sharing that info with finance institutions to restrict access to personal cash and crypto.
