While mobile phones will be easy to replace, other devices could be left marooned – meaning huge sums for customers to upgrade, potentially for life-saving tech. The number of vehicles and car-related equipment hampered by the change was estimated at 80 million back in 2019. Tesla, Nissan, Toyota and Lexus are among those potentially impacted according to consumer reports. It’s claimed around 1.5MN burglar alarms and security systems will also need upgrades.
