- Elon Musk, has donated roughly $6 billion worth of Tesla stock to charity. The donation of 5,044,000 shares was made between November 19 and November 29, according to a filing to the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The filing, revealed on Monday, doesn’t disclose the recipient or recipients of the shares. Last October, Musk was challenged by the director of the UN World Food Program (WFP) to make a donation that would help solve world hunger. Musk had pledged on social media to sell Tesla stock and donate $6 billion to the WFP if the organization could “describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger.”
- Dozens of Honduran police officers surrounded the home of former president Juan Orlando Hernandez on Monday after Washington requested that he be arrested and extradited. Hernandez has already been placed on a US blacklist, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated in early February that there were credible reports Hernandez “has engaged in significant corruption by committing or facilitating acts of corruption and narco-trafficking.” A witness told Reuters that around 100 police officers including special forces, as well as military police, were waiting outside Hernandez’s house.
- Since Israel and Bahrain both view Iran as a threat, they could team up and counter Tehran together, Israeli prime minister Naftali Bennett said on his landmark visit to the Gulf monarchy. The PM blamed Tehran of striving to “destroy moderate states” in the Gulf region in order to replace them with “bloodthirsty terrorist groups.” When asked about the possibility of creating an alliance to resist Iranian influence, which could include Israel, Bahrain, and some other Arab nations, he gave a positive response: “We all understand that we face the same challenges, so why not work together to tackle them?” Bennet, who became the first Israeli prime minister ever to visit Bahrain.
- Fraternal Order of Police National Vice President Joe Gamaldi has told Fox News Digital on Monday that officers were returning to US schools after ‘the defund the police’ movement was deemed to have failed. He asserted that crime rates were swelling in America’s public schools as a result of the police-defunding idea. “I think what you’re seeing and the reaction from these school districts is exactly what we’re seeing in almost every major city in this country: Everybody’s having buyer’s remorse for defunding the police,” Gamaldi stated.
- With Moscow announcing its troops have begun returning to their bases following exercises in Belarus, close to the border with Ukraine, NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said he sees hope for diplomacy to put an end to the standoff between Russia and the West. According to the former Norwegian prime minister, however, there are “signs coming from Moscow about the willingness to continue to engage in diplomatic efforts. That gives us some reason for cautious optimism, but we will of course follow very closely what is happening on the ground.”
- Mexico’s Jalisco New Generation Cartel, also known under its Spanish acronym the CJNG, has shared shocking footage which appears to depict one of its hit men eating a human heart straight from the torn-open chest of a fresh corpse. According to media reports, the victim was a member of a rival criminal group. Commenting on the shocking scenes to the Daily Beast outlet, Robert Bunker, a security analyst and expert on Mexican cartels, opined that the video was part of the CJNG’s intimidation tactics.
- Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has invoked the Emergencies Act for the very first time in Canadian history, citing the threat to safety, order and the economy allegedly posed by “Freedom Convoy” truckers and their sympathizers, protesting against his Covid-19 restrictions.
- More than a quarter out of 285 rivers sampled in an unparalleled global study were found to have levels of “active pharmaceutical ingredients” deemed unsafe for aquatic life. The pollution of the world’s rivers with drugs poses “a threat to environmental and human health,” the authors of the paper, published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, warn.

At this rate, China’s population will be 48% smaller by the end of the century, and even Nigeria will surpass it. - Novak Djokovic says he is not anti-vaccine but is willing to forego future titles rather than be forced into taking the Covid jab in order to compete. Speaking publicly for the first time to explain his vaccine stance since the debacle unfolded, Djokovic said he was willing to miss future events such as the French Open or Wimbledon, rather than be forced to take the vaccine to play. “Yes, that is the price that I’m willing to pay,” Djokovic told the BBC.
- Some studies have found that those who prefer not to sleep at night are more intelligent and creative and more likely to get high-paying jobs than “early birds”. A scientific study conducted by the University of Madrid revealed that “night owls” scored higher than “early birds” on so-called inductive reasoning tests, which measure how well a person can identify a pattern within a large amount of data.
- Prince Andrew has settled a lawsuit brought by Virginia Giuffre, an accuser of Jeffrey Epstein, who had alleged the British royal sexually assaulted her when she was 17. Its precise terms were not disclosed, although it will include a “substantial donation” from Prince Andrew to a victims charity run by Giuffre, as well as an acknowledgment that she had “suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks”. In return, Prince Andrew will be spared a trial that threatened to heap further embarrassment on the royal family for his association with a convicted sex offender.
