Germany to Close HALF its Remaining Nuclear Plants
Berlin will shut down three of the country’s six remaining nuclear power stations on Friday, with the end goal of withdrawing to completely focus on renewable energy.
The reactors of Brokdorf, Grohnde and Gundremmingen C will be shut down 35 years after going online, with the three remaining getting turned off later in 2022.
Germany decided to hasten its de-nuclearisation in 2011, following the meltdown of Japan’s Fukushima plant.
