Europe’s Largest Emergency Gas Stockpile Hits Historic Low
Germany’s natural gas storage capacity as dropped below 60% for the first time in years, according to Sebastian Bleschke, executive director of the German association of underground gas storage operators.
Bleschke told the Handelsblatt newspaper that the number is now approximately at 59%, calling it a “historically low level” and a troubling development with the real winter yet to come.
Furthermore, even despite Germay’s ongoing special tender on gas purchases, given the current market situation, filling the stockpile will be “definitely a challenge,” according to Bleschke.
