- Twitter today issued a warning revealing that attackers abused a legitimate functionality on its platform to unauthorizedly determine phone numbers associated with millions of its users’ accounts. The vulnerability resided in one of the APIs that has been designed to make it easier for users to find people they may already know on Twitter by matching phone numbers saved in their contacts with twitter accounts. the feature worked precisely as intended, except someone was not supposed to upload millions of randomly generated phone numbers and abuse Twitter to reveal profiles associated.
- More than half of Dutch voters want to leave the European Union and seek an alternative trade agreement with the rest of the continent in the style of Brexit, a bombshell poll reveals today.

- China has begun clinical trials to test a drug for the deadly new coronavirus, which has no cure and is being treated with a combination of antivirals and other measures, as scientists race to find a vaccine. The experimental antiviral drug, Remdesivir, developed by US-based Gilead Sciences, is aimed at infectious diseases such Ebola and Sars. It was given to the first US patient last week – a 35-year-old man whose condition appeared to improve within a day.

The first such collection presents documents from the Yalta (Crimean) Conference of February 4-11, 1945, a milestone event during World War II’s final stage that outlined key areas of cooperation between the allies on major military strategic and political issues of the post-war world order.
- Pakistan has declared a national emergency over a locust invasion after insects destroyed crops on farmlands. Millions of insects wreaked havoc in Punjab province, the country’s main agricultural region, and in cities across the Pakistani-Indian border. Authorities called the invasion the worst locust attack in decades.
- Vietnam has reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N6 bird flu in a village in the northern part of the country, the Vietnamese farm ministry reports. The virus was detected in a flock of 3,000 birds in the village of Duc Yen and directly killed 2,200 birds, the report said.
- Nine Belgians who arrived from Wuhan on Sunday evening were extensively tested yesterday in the military hospital in Neder-Over-Heembeek. One of them is infected with the new coronavirus.
- One of the news networks President Trump calls “fake news” is reportedly barred from the annual pre-State of the Union lunch. Anchors from CNN will not be allowed into Tuesday’s event.
- The State of the Union Address (sometimes abbreviated to SOTU) is an annual message delivered by the President of the United States to a joint session of the United States Congress. The message typically includes a budget message and an economic report of the nation, and also allows the President to propose a legislative agenda and national priorities. The address fulfills the requirement in Article II, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution for the President to periodically “give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.”
