I’ve been on rough seas twice and it’s not fun. The first time was on a converted British troop ship between Italy and Greece it it made a lot of people sick, including me.
The second was on a transport-ferry off the coast of Patagonia, Chile on the way back from Isla Magdalena to see the Magellanic pinguinos. Patagonia is the windiest place I’ve ever been—and I mean in some places you can barely stand in one place. I thought we were going to tip over and this boat had both cars and people on it. It wasn’t small. The sea can be a scary place when the wind whips up massive swells. I was SO glad to get back to Punta Arenas.
