Kayleigh McEnany Announces Role in Post-Carlson Primetime Slot – May 5, 2023

Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany reported via social media that she would host “Fox News Tonight” for the duration of next week, with many assuming that the former Trump administration official is being considered as a potential replacement for the former primetime occupant Tucker Carlson.

McEnany previously served as White House press secretary from April 2020 to January 2021, representing the Trump administration through its tumultuous final months as the former president vocally protested the outcome of the 2020 election.

“I am honored to share that I will be hosting Fox News Tonight on [Fox News] at 8pm ET all next week (5/8-5/12)! Set your DVR,” McEnany tweeted. “Please join me next week as we dig into the state of politics, media, culture, and faith in America!”

However, not all were content with the new arrival to Fox’s primetime slot, and McEnany’s announcement attracted derision from both right and left on social media.

CNN anchor Jake Tapper criticized McEnany for allegedly promoting the “big lie,” a term which liberal journalists borrowed from Adolf Hitler to describe the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

“Fox’s latest host for the 8 p.m. slot (next week, she says) is one of the biggest spreaders of the post-election lies that just cost the network $787.5 million,” Tapper said on Twitter, alluding to a lawsuit against the network by Dominion Voting Systems.

The pseudonymous “Dr. Benjamin Braddock,” who was featured prominently in Carlson’s TV documentary “The End of Men,” also expressed derision towards the lady, rhetorically asking McEnany to address the perceived injustice of Carlson’s ouster from the network.

“Will you be talking about the horribly unchristian way that Fox has treated the good man whose slot you’re so honored to usurp?” Braddock asked in reply to McEnany’s announcement.

This backlash would seem to indicate that this female Republican functionary will have a long way to go before she endears herself to viewers to a degree comparable to the maverick Carlson.

Yet, if Tapper’s remarks are any indication, this animosity from Carlson’s supporters will do little to endear McEnany to the progressive mainstream media, making McEnany’s position a rather thankless task as she attempts to fill the shoes of her trailblazing heterodox predecessor.

  1. Give Kaleigh a break. I bet most know little about her if they are Dems. She is very talented, professional and has been the WH correspondent. This is huge for her and a good opportunity for other networks to see what she can do. She has been around enough to handle the opportunity of hosting. Congrats to Kaleigh!!

  2. YAY ! Well executed ! PURGE IS ON ! I love Kaleigh. I love the Kennedys.
Welcome back. More Kennedys will appear for all to see.
