- SAS released an advertisement campaign earlier in February, strongly pro-immigration and claiming that there is no such thing as being Scandinavian and that all of Scandinavia’s inventions or cultural expressions commonly associated with the region were “copied” from elsewhere. Today: SAS has plummeted a staggering 11 percent on the Stockholm Stock Exchange, from November to January the company lost $110 million. Wonder where they “copied” the company management.
- According to a statement cited by the Jerusalem Post, a team of Israeli scientists are on the cusp of developing the first vaccine against the novel coronavirus, according to Israel’s Science and Technology Minister, Ofir Akunis. If all goes as planned, the vaccine could be ready within a few weeks and available for human use in 90 days.
- Saudi Arabia has now suspended entry visas for pilgrim’s wishing to visit the kingdom’s holy sites, the foreign ministry has announced.
- Prominent Iranian cleric and diplomat, Hadi Khosroshahi passed away today, one day after he was admitted to a hospital in Tehran for testing positive Coronavirus. Khosroshahi was Iran’s ambassador to the Vatican and later Iran’s top diplomat in Egypt between 2001 and 2004.
- Apparent efforts to quash discussion of the documented relationship between billionaire Democratic candidate Mike Bloomberg and billionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein have only added more fuel to the fire on social media. The link in itself is nothing new, as photos of Bloomberg with Epstein’s alleged madam Ghislaine Maxwell have been circulating for months. There have also been calls for Democratic primary debate moderators to ask the former New York mayor about his relationship with the deceased pedophile. But several Twitter users are now claiming their accounts were locked when they posted screenshots of Epstein’s “little black book” showing a listing for “Bloomberg Mike” just beneath neocon UK ex-PM Tony Blair.
- Ocean research group OCEARCH announced this week that Unama’ki, the largest great white shark tracked by the non-profit organization, had provided the group with new information about its breeding habits during its latest migration in the Gulf of Mexico. - The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), an international watchdog that helps promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy, expressed approval Thursday of the Japanese government’s plans to release contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the ocean. “Releasing into the ocean is done elsewhere; it’s not something new; there is no scandal here. But what is important is to do it in a way that is not harmful, and you need somebody to monitor before, during and after release, to check that everything is okay.” – IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi

- Immigrants in the US may see their citizenship revoked following the formation of a new unit in the US Department of Justice (DoJ) dedicated to the denaturalization of individuals who became citizens through illegal means or the omission of disqualifying details.
- A Cincinnati city councilwoman could face up to 50 years in prison after being arrested Tuesday on federal corruption charges, authorities say, according to reports. Federal authorities allege Dennard had requested sums of $10,000 to $15,000 for personal expenses from the source, a representative of a law firm linked to the development project along the Ohio River in downtown Cincinnati.
- Social media platforms across Turkey winked out after reports of an airstrike in Syria killing dozens of Turkish soldiers fueled rumors of an all-out war. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and YouTube were all reported down. Twitter was the first to go, with national provider Turk Telekom shutting off access around 11:30 pm local time on Thursday. This was shortly after news broke that at least nine – the number has continued to rise since – Turkish soldiers were killed in Syria’s Idlib province.
