October 2018, Tail of the Dog ~ The Issue of Service is at Hand ~ October 6, 2018

This October begins the last four months of the Year of the Dog, when the issue of Service is at hand (or should I say, ‘at paw’?) Dogs live to serve; it’s hard to think of a role model of more faithful service. They remind us of the part of ourselves that lives to serve.
But that part can easily get aimed at serving the wrong masters.

False values and distorted meanings have taken over world culture so that lies are taken as truth while truth gets cast as lies. Amidst such distortions the longing to serve becomes abused. What is your life serving? How is your life serving you? Is there inspiration in the things you think and do? Are you contributing to the renewal of love, hope and kindness? For the last eight months these questions have been radiating through mass consciousness, asking you to step back from the daily grind and check to see if the life you’re living is the one your were born for.

As the Dog enters its final months, ask yourself if what you’re doing with your life is serving the renewal of our species. You have a power within you to make significant change in yourself, which in turn produces change in the world. And we desperately need that power to shine like a lighthouse through the current darkness. It’s true that every historical age has its own drama, its own clash between corrupt power and freedom of thought. But it feels as if the fate of humanity now hangs upon choices we make in the coming years.

Although I’m an astrologer I cannot predict whether humanity will rise above its greed, short-sightedness, bigotry and suicidal self-hatred to save the day. I cannot tell whether we’ll crash and burn to extinction or rise like a Phoenix from the ashes.

But I know that, sleeping deep down in the core of our species, are forces of goodness and compassion, magic and miracle. If those forces awaken and guide humanity toward a way to be that serves love and peace rather than fear, hatred and despair, we will turn this world around. That’s what I’m here for.

P.S. Don’t forget to check out my new class and the rest of what is being offered through this year’s Tribal Drumbeat program.
