Mmm…how very interesting! As I continue to study spirituality, much information is now making its way to me regarding the Gnostic views of life and living.
Gnostic views seem to focus on wisdom that stems from our environment here on earth, reflected, no doubt, by various “pagan” rituals focused on the seasons of Earth…Halloween (time of harvest), May Day (rejoicing the arrival of Spring), the concept of “Mother Earth” as a BEing on which humanity exists.
Gnostic beliefs have been encouraged by the societies of old…Druids, Nordic, Gypsies…but were NOT accepted by Western societies who were focused on the advent of Christianity. Premier in the study of Gnostic belief is the person of Hermes Trismegistus, the father of Occult Wisdom, the founder of Astrology, and said to be the discoverer of Alchemy.
This master of ancient Egypt was so widely regarded, Hermes was eventually was reamed Thoth, the God of Wisdom, and the Scribe of the Gods. If you would learn more, I recommend reading Not in His Image: Gnostic Vision, Sacred Ecology, and the Future of Belief by John Lamb Lash.
This video is a basic representation of ideas from Hermes Trismegistus, aka Thoth, whose ideas reach to our current times asking for review. We are advised by many to discard our ego’s in order to gain the truth; it’s not about ME, rather, it is all about US!
